The Personal Trainer provides instruction and leadership while maintaining a safe environment by conducting and monitoring effective and enjoyable exercise programs for individuals.

• Teaches effective, safe, and enjoyable exercise using proper exercise progressions
• Demonstrates clear explanations and exercise material with proper form and technique
• Develops positive relationships with participants and provides motivational support and guidance
• Encourages member involvement and identifies potential volunteers
• Increases participant awareness of all healthy lifestyle factors
• Tracks progress of all clients for whom programs have been created
• Follows up with each client on a regularly scheduled basis
• Operates all equipment properly and promptly reports any problems
• Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary
• Attends staff meetings and training courses as scheduled
• Incorporates the mission, philosophy, and 4 core values of the YMCA in all communication with participants and co-workers

• Required Certifications:

1. Current state approved CPR/AED, and First Aid

2. Current, national Personal Trainer Certification (ACSM, NASM, NSCA, ACE, etc.)

• Current certification in area(s) of expertise

• At least one year of personal training experience is preferred

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to operate objects, tools, and/or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl; talk and/or hear; taste and/or smell.
• The employee occasionally required to lift and/or move 45 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
